our little yard
We don't have a garden in the true sense of the word, with grass and stuff. It's a small walled yard with house on three sides and a lovely stone wall on the other. Picture opportunities are a bit limited in such a small place, hence a lot of photos of the washing line and wooden seat!
We do have huge double doors that open out fully from the playroom ( I mean sewing room...got that girls ;) so its a really nice extension out into the air from there. We are spending so much time at this end of the house, I've almost forgotten what the front room looks like.
I'd love to have a huge lawn and be able to grow other things than container plants but I love our little yard. There are lots of tubs with scented geraniums and cacti (out all winter down here and surviving well), more geraniums and even more geraniums. I really like geraniums :)
It's a suntrap and you'll often find me out on the bench coffee in hand, grabbing a few minutes before re- entering the fray. In the evening it's positively Mediterannean, but that may be just my romantic notion... Can't complain at all.

this bright blue piece of plastic was on my hitlist but seems to have come into it's own over the weekend. I'm just going to have to live with it..
......and of course there's no mowing or weeding which means more time for alfresco dining!

It's the perfect kind of garden! I had a huge garden in Kyrgyzstan with tons of roses, apple trees, berry bushes, flowers all over. Oh-my-Gawd how much work and time it takes! Just the watering took two hours a day! With a two-year old to take care of!
Anyway, lots of things have been coming back off my hitlist too.
And that embroidery! Someday I'll come to your place and you'll sew things for my girls! Hee hee. Nice visitors, huh?

we have a huge yard but it's overwhelming right now because i don't really know what to do with it. half of it is sand because we get too much shade in the back for the grass to survive, plus i feel guilty about even HAVING grass what with water shortages and such. so i think having a nice area where you can have coffee (without bugs biting you...like here) and eat on the ground sounds heavenly. did you do that embroidery by hand? i must have missed that post. or just forgot. people like you who can do this really amaze me...have a great day!

we have lots of grass in the plot we are moving to, and i have to confess that i am more excited about creating an area covered in gravel for table, chairs, pots etc to go on!!!
grass can often just be a blooming pain - we are lucky to have sheep and soon donkeys to keep it down - if i had to mow it i would sell up and move!!!
enjoy your yard x
