It was only a matter of time before I broke out the dye. The whole process of taking virgin white fleece or yarn and transforming it with colour enthralls me. There is always an element of surprise, no matter how carefully planned (which is not really the way I do it anyway, but.....), the final unveiling, that 'ta da !' moment. Oh, I do like that moment.
The salad spinner was a tip I picked up somewhere along the way and it's perfect for getting rid of the excess water, much more satisfying to me than the roll up in a towel and squeeze method. I think it will see more wool than lettuce ;)
After a 'bit' of pre drafting..........I ended up with the above. A little OTT, but the feel of those fibres slipping through my hands was mesmerising and I just couldn't stop. Made it easy to spin though...
I plied from a centre pull ball..
And voila ! We have wool. I'm a happy girl.
Just a note on my sporadic blogging of late. No real reason, just lots of woolly playing and planning, Christmas stressing - I mean cheer...you know the drill. I'm a bit out of the habit if the truth be told, so I'll see if I can get a bit more organised.
That's the plan anyway ;)
