After a half term of lethargy and general under the weatherness (the girls, not me), we hot footed it up to the moor to get some fresh air.
It was kill or cure ! I hadn’t banked on the fog or the minus conditions up there.
It was beautiful as it always is, whatever the weather. We scrambled and climbed, the dogs loving every moment of it, Maddie the ‘leader’ taking us on a mystery tour of the rocks.
Tiny flakes of snow began to fall, adding themselves to the dusting already there on higher ground.
When the cold and wind got too much and little hands were red raw (I was lucky to get a coat on Maddie let alone gloves) we clambered into the car and drove to a little farm shop and cafe for the best hot chocolate, cream and marshmallows I have ever had.
Plus cake of course, coffee and walnut, my favourite. Got to make these things worth while……
Tucked into a little corner next to the wood burning stove, we slowly thawed out before heading outside to the barn to stroke some friendly livestock.
I think I’m going to make this one of our regular little treats.
