a day of taking stock

and reskeining, my favourite ;) I like to keep this to a minimum as my shoulders can’t take it but some things just look better after being re wound. The fact that I could work in the garden made it less of a chore (hooray for this gorgeous weather).

A phone call from the school meant Maddie came home early with a tummy upset.  Nothing like old Tom and Jerry videos and a doggy cuddle to aid recovery!

 

So, some new things are heading for the shop, including some wonderfully shimmery merino/tencel laceweight yarn. Lovely stuff.

My fave vintage blanket was put to good use for a few sunny hours by the river Dart.  See that CC41 utility mark ?  For a 70 yr old it’s doing well.

The dogs were as good as gold, happy to just soak up the rays, ever alert for cheese falling out of rolls mind you….

Spot that knitting ?

I’m making a pair of plain old vanilla socks with some of my Buffy Toughie that got hideously tangled during reskeining (when that happens I tend to just throw it on the ‘me pile’ for sorting at a later date, rather than giving myself a massive stress fest – fortunately it doesn’t happen too often).  Hence there is only one in the shop instead of two ! One of a kind Morris colourway, if you’re interested ;)

I’ll close now as I’m squeezing this in quickly on a work break and I’d like to fit in a sandwich too, seeing as I’ve had no tea yet (leftover from the picnic naturally).

resurfacing

Time is marching on and I’ve not posted for an age.  No real reason, although I can definitely say that a bit quite a lot of illness (just the seasonal norm of colds and snuffles) and blah weather didn’t help fuel the blog inspiration!  That said, I’m back and happy to be so.

We had a glorious Easter weekend, well Sunday was perfect weatherwise anyway….

Maddie even got her feet out and enjoyed her chocolate eggs perched on a rock in the sun..(Wilf enjoyed a couple too but don’t tell her !)

It was a real ‘aaaahhhhh’ moment.  The beach was pretty deserted, the sun warm, really warm.  We all just enjoyed the stillness, peace and warmth.  The girls were content to just be, even Maddie who is normally a little dynamo.

The boys lapped it up too..

What a lovely way to start the month.  I’m feeling super virtuous too as I’m up to date with a lot of work (nursing) courses and paperwork and now have a few days off, always a good feeling :)
