spring walk

what a glorious weekend!

We all took a walk out in the sun, away from the chores and comparative gloom of the house.

 

It really was beautiful, even Harry pranced about like a puppy

and the girls put blossom in their hair and put their sisterly bickering aside

The tide was out and the dogs had a lot of fun frolicking in the mud (!). This is looking down the Teign estuary towards Teignmouth and the open sea.

On the return loop we were right at the side of the racecourse and managed to catch the second race of the day

We had to cover Wilfs eyes with  a coat so he wouldn't bark :)

sun and snow

what a mixture lately .  Our walk the other day was positively balmy. Fueled up with our new discovery (a big bag of assorted broken biscuits from Costcutter............massive restraint needed not to repurchase...) we strolled through the sun dappled woods and lay about in the field.  Ok, it was a bit damp on the grass but we chose to ignore that.  The warmth on our wintery pale bodies was gorgeous and we all flopped down and soaked it up.

Wilf  is a total sun worshipper.  I noticed that last summer when we first had him.  He would go straight out to the back yard after a walk, stretch out on the hot paving and luxuriate in the warmth.    He makes his needs very clear by standing in  sunny spots around the house looking plaintive, until I put his bed there. Harry, being the more pale and interesting type, prefers the shade...and the sofa. 

It was lovely to see them roll about in the grass, obviously enjoying the gentle rays.

Today we woke up to snow, just a little.............but the sun was still shining.

P.S......did you notice Maddie's new self styled fringe in the top pic. I must gather up all the scissors......

it's a new day

...and a brighter one at that.  The sun is shining and the sky is blue.  Lily is back at school, Nick back at work, the littly at preschool....and me ?  Well, I'm catching up with all of the washing from the last few days.  Multiple bed changes, fresh air and bleach is whats called for around here !

It was a pleasure to get out of the house this morning, even though the sunshine is accompanied by a very cold and strong wind.

 

 

 

one slight hiccup though....

 

Harry hurt himself whilst chasing around at full speed in the undergrowth.  I wasn't being negligent, taking a picture of him in his time of need....he's just a bit of a drama queen and wouldn't let me near it to have a look. Poor old Harry, not known for his bravery.  Screams at the slightest scratch and is well known at the vets for his plaintive howl during vaccinations.

As predicted, he remarkably recovered after about 30 seconds but wanted to stay close to Mum anyhow :)

 

Aren't I mean ?  I love him so, even if he is a big wuss.

......for my wool order to come.  You can guarantee it'll turn up when I go on the school run.  I'm itchy to get dyeing.......come on, come on...

hee, hee !  Now I'm scared to open it, as that means I have to create something beautiful out of it.  Ohh, the possibilities. Right, I think a cup of tea is in order to calm myself :)

I've just been picking through the pics of the last week or so and it struck me that sometimes it's the 'boring' ones, the quick snaps, the non set-ups, that strike as the most poignant.  Those oh so special little moments again, with us every day if we look.

watch out cats...

This was not my intended post by the way, that was wiped before I had a chance to save when internet explorer crashed...(screammmmmm ..that's better), so here's a short little alternative for the time being..

In my new postion of 'cat tester'  for the GRWE , I'm going to be seeing a lot of these lovely hounds. My cats are quite used to dogs and proved to be quite ferocious when faced with the following - (quite rightly too, although the dogs in question did nothing to upset the cats other than being in their livingroom..)

Lexi - cat friendly and with a loving family now. A very gorgeous girl.

Amber (or Sandy, can't remember which way round) - a little bit too 'interested'.

Alonzo...I SO fell for him...what a gentle boy.  He was borderline on the cats, in no way agressive of nasty, more playful.. but we erred on the side of caution. The big black boys are often overlooked in kennels and are always the last to be rehomed.

The dogs were unmuzzled for their pics but you'll be pleased to know that full kitty protecting measures are strictly adhered to :)
